About Tim Kaine

Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Tim Kaine grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Missouri and earned a law degree from Harvard Law School.

Tim Kaine was first elected to public office in 1994, when he won a seat on the Richmond, Virginia, City Council.

Tim Kaine was elected mayor of Richmond in 1998.

Tim Kaine served as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2001.

Tim Kaine was elected governor of Virginia in 2005 up until 2010.

Tim Kaine was a chairman of Democratic National Convention from 2009-2011.

On July 22, 2016, Hillary Clinton announced that she had selected Tim Kaine to be her vice president running mate in the 2016 presidential election.

Senator Tim Kaine may be on the Team Clinton now, but he once said that Bill Clinton should resign after his Whit House affair with Monica Lewinsky. A rapport first published by Daily Beast Wednesday said the Democratic vice presidential nominee was responding to a separate scandal involving then-Virginia state congressman Vance Wilkins, when he reflected on Clinton's affair, Fox News rapports.

Kain called for Wilkins to resign and told the Richmond Times-Dispatch in 2002 that he still maintained that Clinton should have stap down in 1998 amid the Lewinsky controversy. "My reaction was the same I had when I read about the Clinton-Lewinsky affair: this is not appropriate conduct. It's beneath the dignity of the office", the Virginia senator told the Associated Press in separate interview.
